From my door hangs a hollow wreath The wind steals it into the night For me to follow I must not cease But the snow has fallen with the light Cracking grass on shingled feet At the river it takes my strength But here now my wreath greets It smiles for me though stays at length Once a gentle notion of conceit To have the winter and my comfort I bore weight for a wreath to be neat And left my home to be subvert Here my knees fall to mud and snow The soil of life I failed to know

Recuperating relentless faith through a written Word, on a forgotten paper I'm sorry I never, Said the words that littered my pens. Instead something foolish would worm In some stupid tone of men. All I ever wanted out of this life, To hold you. I'll go away today, And I won't mark my way. Broken twigs and ruffled brush They go back to place, So when I turn round to find you You'll still live without me. Maybe chance will bring someone new But for now I have this paper, That reads all about you. It always has been A story about a lovely pair of eyes. For this is the common thought. That time and feeling have but not A glimmer and a hope to know Of reason that holds dreams below. Come take my hand says the fiddler, But his promise lacks finesse. It bears our hearts in the glimmer Of pasts that we cannot express. When I told the truth It was because I lived still in youth. But now that I have lied. I find hope in that glimmer's side. Sad sad sad the Preacher and his flock say, But I wonder how heavy their words weigh.

Cursed, defiant, brave, and bruised. These are the ones and the immortals. In the great book they are used When the ages fall to withdrawals. Savage calls now my lust has died inside. Cannot see this crimson in its course To life outside the great and dead divide. Woe has become of this legendary source. Break stride to grasp the great cry, A path that leads the way home. But I seal my lips, rise, and dare defy This paper spine that reads  do not roam. Ten years for this price to be paid, But my place in the book has been laid.

For all the lies I've written on this page. And for the times I thought I had felt My own heart beat with rage. These were the words that I dealt. Now it's crawling outside myself, My mind gone with the night, But I don't want to clear this shelf Because these memories give flight. Can't and don't, and shouldn't be Here is what I promised from the past. Don't forget passion, never flee From thoughts that should last. But I cheat and steal and lie, All I dream now is how to fly.

She cries to be taken away. For how long can night last? There is no answer For as long as she weeps. Moons mark dark clouds with see-through spots, Declaring presence in a place with no bounds. The weeper watches and counts her blessings, At least she knows she has no home. Her torment wrinkles the face of the road, Mixing currents cannot decide where to go. So the weeper gets up and points her finger, At least she can choose her leaving. The breeze stumbles upon lofty lamps, Growing cold because it must go round. One moment, you may believe this is real. But don't look back there is only our fall, Beaten, broken, and now you are surreal, Like the pages on my dead city's wall. Did you drop your hope down a dark alley? Where eyes dance down dreary two lane lovers, And end of the lines deny finales. Yet I hope we may live to recover. Vigor may prove a prudent measure due. On weathered graffiti walls lay a tale, Of how we became from the me and you, To this corner us by the street lamp's veil. Never knew to pray, never lost the way, But we cannot deny this slow decay.

To this vessel of mine, You hold me Hostage on a river of time. White washed walls And flammable freedom. My eyes see in volleys What I have left behind. You are a cage of Frames. Each one binds A vision and memory. When the end comes, love Will be worn like an accessory Against flesh too dull To understand color. Fall for her forever touch. Dark stands shrouding face, Suffocating lungs from a burning grace, They’ve let the smoke do as such. Those etched lips crease to a clutch, Trimming a sly motion to a feeling race, Dripping a heavy, salt-infected embrace. Falling for her does not give much, Too quick to have passed her sultry gain. Still the dark shroud over us both, And one more lusty cloud is blown. It follows the words, our oath, “Lets the burning ones reign, We will never be alone.”
